ESL - International

Brief Description

Multilingual employees are in demand both domestically and internationally. Our English as a Second Language (ESL) program focuses on developing skills such as Conversational English, Reading, Writing, Pronunciation, Listening and Grammar. Designed for non-native speakers, the ESL program offers seven levels of instruction ranging from Introduction to English to Advanced English (II).

Topics and Modules are administered by trained instructors. The program is designed to provide equal weight to Reading/ Comprehension, Writing, Speaking/ Pronunciation, and Grammar. To ensure student success, the program is further customized based on class skill level.

Our ESL curriculum, qualified teachers and hands-on education provide quality English language training in a caring, modern and supportive environment. 

Program Modules (Sections)

Section 1 – Introduction – Everyday English - 25 hours (ESlL1ONBB)

Introduction to Basic English vocabulary, structures and expressions used in everyday environment.

Subjects include making introductions, asking for directions, grocery shopping, ordering meals and leaving simple phone messages. The students also learn some basic facts about life in North America with attention given to jobs, cultures and important holidays.

Section 2 – English Grammar and Pronunciation 25 hours (ESlL2ONBB)

In this section, students begin to produce vowel and consonant sounds through identification of articulators and areas of articulation. Students also learn techniques in sentence formation and grammar using everyday life topics such as music, weather, politics, values and emotions.

Section 3 – Intermediate English Level 1 – 25 hours (ESlL3ONBB)

Vocabulary building and reading comprehension is the major focus in this section. While building on pronunciation skills and using vocabulary in sentence formation, students are encouraged to read extensively in this section. Reading comprehension topics include non-fiction articles, cultural trends, family values and other topics of interest for individual students.

Section 4 – Intermediate English Level 2– 25 hours (ESlL4ONBB)

In Section 4, students build on the skills learned and use the knowledge to listen and speak in English. By collaborating with fellow students and assignments that require interaction in the community, students learn to use English in a social context. Using banking services, customer services desk, storytelling etc. are the important topics students learn in this section.

Section 5 – Intermediate English Level 3– 25 hours (ESlL5ONBB)

This is the final section before students progress to advanced English Levels. Writing of letters, short paragraphs, short essay writing is practiced in this section. Students are required to maintain a journal with all the written exercises. Topics for written communication include writing business letters, interview cover letters and personal letters.

Section 6 – Advanced English Level 1– 25 hours (ESlL6ONBB)

In the advanced English Level 1 section, students learn to comprehend, read and write socially relevant subjects such as Advertising, Financial & Legal Documents, Urban Studies and Communication. Students are required to write a presentation after researching common topics of interests.

Section 7 – Advanced English Level 2- 20 hours (ESlL7ONBB)

In the final section of the ESL program, students learn about personal appearances, presenting oneself, interview techniques and interpersonal communication. Students are required to make a presentation on common interest topics.
